The Southern Caribbean is characterized by the largest reef system in Costa Rica, with deep water less than two miles offshore. This provides unique experiences for fishing a variety of species and a variety of techniques.
The sea offers seasonal and yearlong catch including Tarpon, Spanish Mackerel, King Fish, Barracuda, Dorado, Wahoo, Grouper, Bonita, and several species of Snapper and Jacks. Weather and sea permitting, jump in for a snorkel or try diving for fresh lobster, octopus, and sea snails!
Captain Pino was born and raised here, and with over 35 years of fishing these shores, knows all the best places, methods and equipment to lure those fish onto the boat
On a typical day, we will travel to several offshore reefs on our way to the Southern tip of Costa Rica near the Sixaola River. Take a peek at Panama from the sea while we view several pods of dolphins and the occasional turtle. This is the best place to find the Tarpon, a feisty, flashy game fish, better for playing than eating.
If the water cooperates, we may stop along some deserted beaches, snorkel shallow reefs or dive for lobster, octopus and sea snails. Guests will enjoy the underwater show as their captain shows his hunting prowess at three – five fathoms.
Returning to the harbor, we round out the day by trolling near shore, allowing guests a phenomenal view of the private inlets, the picturesque beaches with dense jungle meeting the sea, and the steamy mountains in the distance. Once on the beach, the crew will clean and prep your day’s catch for you. We’ve personally negotiated with select restaurants in the area to assure that when you’ve hooked ‘em, they’ll cook ‘em to perfection!
We offer full- and half-day tours. Full- and half-day rates are exclusive tours and are limited to your party and the crew. Fishing with the Captain is a half-day tour and may include other guests.
